Exhibition project as part of the Klima Biennale Wien

Together with three Viennese darkrooms, the photo lab Lumen X, the Werkstätte Analoge Fotografie at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and filmkoop wien, FOTOGALERIE WIEN is exploring alternative photographic processes.
The exhibition showcases local artists who are paving the way for a practice that conserves resources. In workshops, the public is also invited to experiment with alternative image processes and development methods.

Blueberries
Film in DIY organic developer made from blueberries: In this workshop, the group will expose Super8 film and then develop it in home-brewed bio-chemicals made from blueberries.

Chemigrams
As part of the Green Chamber, Lumen X offers the opportunity to work with chemigrams, an analog art form that creates a unique combination of control and chance. Only recycled photographic materials from old stocks will be used.

Phytograms
In this workshop, filmkoop wien will teach participants the alternative photochemical process of phytography. All materials will be provided, no previous knowledge of film or photography is required.

Kompostol
The Kompostol / Developer & Community Cooking workshop introduces plant-based developer approaches as a "green" alternative to conventional photo chemicals: Turning food scraps into film developer and cooking dinner together.

Watergrams
Watergrams are snapshots of water in motion captured on film or photographic paper. After a short theoretical and practical introduction, the participants will travel together to the banks of the Danube after dusk. There, the waves of the Danube will be captured on the film material and the exposed material will be processed on site with eco-developers. After the trip back together, the material will be viewed at filmkoop wien. The aim of the workshop is to experience the technique of watergrams and the associated photochemical process as close to nature as possible. Please bring weatherproof clothing and rubber boots if possible
